3 Myths of Awakening
Suddenly, I was immersed in the immense love of Source/God/Universe and experienced life as Divinity. I assumed that many people were having this same experience of awakening consciousness. I thought we were having a mass transformation. We were, and we are—just not how I thought.
I also assumed that my new love, fearlessness, and deep knowing of my divinity would last and be my new norm. I thought I would always feel energetically alive in this new and magical way. I have since learned that peak experiences are like doors that we walk through, and there is no turning back.
Even when I wondered how in the world I would navigate life in this expanded state of grace, I never imagined all the personal growth that would follow.
My book, Awakening Consciousness: Discovering a Larger Version of Self, describes my awakening experience.
Since then, I have learned a lot about the nature of this rise in Consciousness we are all experiencing. I want to help anyone as confused about how to proceed as I was by this new version of myself.

There are 3 main myths we have about awakening:
Myth 1-Awakening like enlightenment, comes in a flash or after many years of meditation.
One insight about awakening is that people who wonder about awakening are already “awake” to feeling one with Consciousness. You just need to remember it. Awakening isn’t always a verifiable experience. It happens in increments. You might find you are awake in the spiritual sense and not even be aware of it. It is about knowing your eternal nature, and sometimes, that knowing sneaks up on you.
Myth 2- When awakened, you are suddenly perfected to an all-knowing state of perfection.
The fact that you’re awake doesn’t mean you’re perfect. It doesn’t mean that you’ve come to the end of your karmic habits or lower impulses. It can be experienced as enlightenment, but you still have all those annoying personal habits. You are still the same person in many aspects that you were before, and “After Enlightenment Comes the Laundry,” as author Jack Kornfield put it.
Myth 3-Awakening must be sought after and is something always out of reach in the future.
Many people may be in the process of looking for awakening like it is out there somewhere. The problem is that we’re busy trying to decide if the experience they are having is awake or not. In that case, they are focused on having an experience and not on the awareness of being present in each moment. Be awake to the purity of the now moment.
After awakening, there is always an awareness, sometimes called the Watcher, that is aware of every experience. No matter what experience you’re having, no matter how “unawake” it might feel to you, everything serves as your next step to awakening more. You don’t need the euphoria to make it real.

Awakening in Energy Centers
There are many levels to awakening. It is like peeling an onion of our old beliefs and personality programs that don’t serve us anymore. Awakening is both an amazing and messy journey. It is a roller-coaster ride of thrills, chills, and victories.
Are you ready for more? It’s happening anyway.
