Spirit Animal Messages from the Coyotes

As I watched several Coyotes cross the road in front of me this month, they seemed to turn toward me to give me a look and a wink of understanding.

Since we are all one with nature, elemental life speaks when we pay attention and are listening.

As I meditated on what they might be telling me I learned that, “if the Coyote had a mantra it would be, expect the unexpected.”  This is certainly a big message from the Universe right now as our lives has been shift in ways that we never could have expected because of the Corona Virus.

Coyotes are known as tricksters. I don’t like being tricked do you? I think we were totally surprised by the turn of events and the sudden shelter in place mandate of the health organizations in the United States and the world.

We are being asked by the Universe to live in uncertainty. So much about our future plans have slipped into the realm of the unknown.

Seeing coyotes is possibly a message telling us that we might as well embrace life like the Coyote who says, “Release what you cannot control with joy.”  We might even find a way to laugh as the trickster fate plays with us.

Incredibly,  What’s my spirit says that the Spirit Animal Coyote appears when “we either need to remove our masks or put them on for protection.” How totally perfect for this time of masking ourselves against the Covide-19 virus while at the same time unmasking what is most authentic within us—discovering what is most essential about our lives. You simply can’t make this stuff up.

Through disrupting our routines and physical distancing we have unmasked many things about our lives that needed changing. Much about the medical system has been exposed. We have taken stock of our worth as we have been labeled essential and non-essential in a crisis situation.

Coyote invites us to recognizing what we’ve buried and use that knowledge as steps toward wholeness. Coyote also challenges us to think about the things that we have pushed down that we don’t want to face—often these things impact our wellness in body, mind, and spirit.

Coyote also enters the lives of those who have been taking life much too seriously. We have learned to turn to our sense of humor at the hording of toilet paper and other crazy behaviors that we observed lately.

When working with Coyote we must be alert; learn to laugh at our mistakes and use them as teachable moments. This can be incredibly healing and a wonderful coping skill.

Coyote symbolism and meaning is incredibly complex since he is both a trickster and is also a teacher—both playful and wise—and somehow finds a balance between the two.

Coyote may also be telling us to be mindful of the “risk-reward equation.” Sometimes we need to play it safe, and other times take a clever leap of faith into something wholly new and challenging. Use your intuition and proceed mindfully to fully see what are you choosing.

Seeing coyotes is a signal that we are about to embark on a new situation that calls for adaptation, creativity, and Willey Coyote skills. That idea makes me laugh.

We might even develop a sense of humor about the antics we have to go through to capture that illusive dream of a more unified and loving humanity as we shift into the Age of Aquarius.
