Have You Read the Signs – A Meeting With Crow

Exploring Sunset Crater National Monument near Flagstaff, Arizona we were surprised to discover that the outskirts held yet another National Monument.

Wupatki National Monument is a community including five Ancestral Puebloan ruins remaining from the native civilization that lived there.

Although the soil in their homeland contains volcanic ash, residents of the Wupatki agricultural community constructed their dwellings on the land fertile for growing crops.

As I was leaving this incredible site with awe and wonder on my heart, a crow looked me over with an open mouth like he was going to speak at any minute.

Of course, I had to look up what he might be wanting to say to me.

What is the meaning of crow as a spirit animal totem?

The crow is an animal associated with life’s mysteries and magic. The Native Americans consider the crow to be a sign of good fortune every time one crosses their path.

The cultures of Native Americans had many crow clans and tribes, who used to consult the crow for words of wisdom in times of need.

I was delighted to cross paths with this one, especially since the crow appears for me often. I had to laugh in delight at the appearance of this bird showing up once again with a latent message.

They say that if the crow has chosen you as your spirit or totem animal, it supports you in developing the power of sight, transformation, and connection with life’s magic. That’s exactly what is have been wishing for.

Like the Native Americans the Celtics also discredit the dark symbolism that sometimes surrounds this black bird.

The Celtic crow stands for individuality, prophetic knowledge, and disregard for what others think of you. Celtics deeply honor crows as a sign sent to them by prophets or oracles in the practice of clairvoyance. They believed the crows carried secrets between the feathers of their wings.

This crow kept his mouth open as he turned toward me as if he was going to speak at any moment.  As the wind ruffled through his feathers and he turned his head this way and that, I was definitely feeling like ancient secrets were in the air.

Crows symbolize transformation and change but refer more to a spiritual or emotional change rather than physical. The power of this bird as totem and spirit guide is in providing insight and supporting intentions to materialize.

Crows are smart and watchful creatures that have sharp and powerful foresight. The insight that I received was that this appearance was foreshadowing that answers were coming to me but not fully here yet.

The air was eerily full of promise. I could feel in it pending insights and magic to come. I am ready for change, and have been awaiting a boost in intuitive ability and prophetic knowledge.

Although there are many meanings that could be associated with the crow, it is up to each person to choose the meaning that speaks directly to them. I translate this sighting as a message that my wishes are coming to me.

Perhaps crows will cross your path and call to you to intuit their message. Some of them can be very direct. Many messages carry layers of meaning for they are multi-dimensional. You can go deeper and rise higher depending on the meaning that you tune into.

I laughed when I turned the corner to see that the crow I had been conversing with was actually standing on a sign—a parking sign.

Whatever symbolism is showing up for you, whether it is animals that draw your attention, numbers, or amazing synchronistic events, pay attention.

Don’t forget to look for Spirit Messages around you. It makes life more meaningful, magical, and fun.
