Abundance Through Gratitude

“Look for abundance by opening the door through gratitude.”  ~~ Lindsay S Godfree

man on moneyShock and disappointment swept over me. The book order I had been waiting for had finally arrived in the mail. It was titled “Simple Abundance” and I knew it had to do with gratitude. I really needed help in both areas of my life, abundance and gratitude. I was anxious to read it.

When I opened the book, it was full of empty pages. Except for a preface and some scattered quotes it was an EMPTY BOOK! I sat in a state of disbelief and confusion. I was angry at the audacity of the writer and the publisher.

It was an expensive book too with a beautiful cover and apparently it was intended for the reader to fill in the lines with statements as a daily gratitude list. I surmised that it was a workbook that went with another previous book by the same author.

Having made my requests and visualizations to the Universe, I was in a state of expectation for help and answers regarding my current life crisis. (see the books Infinite Possibilities and Ask and It is Given) So I took the time to meditate on the meaning this event might have for me. I asked God and the Universe why I had received this empty book?

Deciding that I might as well make the best of it and get my money’s worth, I began to fill it in. It became a metaphor for my life, empty but filling up. And thus began a transformational journey.

You too can transition into abundant living by practicing daily gratitude. I cannot fully explain the differences it will make in your life as you make your list of gratitude before you start your day. You simply have to do this experiment yourself to get the full benefit. Reading about it just won’t work.

As I practiced listing daily the things that I was grateful for, I found it easier and easier to see more things that I loved and appreciated. I previously believed that my life was wasted, disappointing and lacking in the all things that I wanted my life to be. I bloomed with an understanding that I was actually rich. Rich with the beauty of nature, my wonderful family, my opportunities and my job began to feel really rewarding too.

As the days of listing things to be grateful for—none of which was supposed to be listed twice—turned into a month, I realized that I had a new outlook on life. I began to understand that perhaps I had not received the abundance I wanted in my life because I was not grateful for the things that I did have.

One day illumination dawned on me. I was RICH and didn’t even know it. I was rich in blessings and I had been all the time. I just had not seen the blessings and the abundance that was already there. I suddenly realized that even if nothing changed in my life I was able to be happy. Money wasn’t the road to happiness.

I now walk around with a smile on my face thinking to myself, “I am a millionaire and no one even knows it.”

Try this Affirmation: Abundance is all around me and flows to me easily now.
